Sleep Easy 2022
Join YMCA Norfolk on Friday 11 March
Where is Sleep Easy Norfolk 2022 taking place?
This year we’ve decided to utilise our exciting new Community Hub on Aylsham Road, Norwich, to host our sleep easy fundraising event. To make the night as authentic as possible we will use our outdoor car park area and cafe decking space.
However, you can choose to participate in the event wherever you like. We’ve previously had fundraisers sleep rough in schools, community centres, their back garden, garages, churches, car parks and much more.
By spending a night in an unusual place or sleeping outside, you will experience what it’s like to get minimal sleep as you feel vulnerable to the elements. Many of our young people have unfortunately had to go through this and we want to raise as many funds as possible, so make sure to involve family, friends and work colleagues too!
What is Sleep Easy?
Each year YMCA Norfolk joins YMCAs from across England and Wales to take part in a mammoth Sleep Easy fundraising event with the aim of raising vital funds to help tackle the root causes of youth homelessness.
And so, from 7pm on Friday 11 March to 7am on Saturday 12 March, hundreds of people across the country will be sleeping anywhere but their beds to raise awareness of the thousands of young people who are made homeless each year, and YMCA Norfolk is calling on the county to join in!
Where do the funds go?
Every night we provide a safe home and support for over 260 vulnerable young people in Norfolk. Money raised from the event will go towards delivering much needed support for residents and vulnerable young people, this year particularly towards providing homes for homeless young people in Norwich.
We are keen to support our young people towards independent living, which means not only providing them with a roof over their head but also somewhere that they’re proud to call home.
Hear from those who took part in YMCA Norfolk Sleep Easy 2021
“It has made me reflect on how exhausting it is for those faced with multiple nights on the streets. I am really glad I took part, not only to help raise money for this important cause, but because it has made me consider the harsh reality faced by homeless young people.”
– Jessica Sprouse, participant of Sleep Easy 2021
“No matter how cold and uncomfortable it was we knew it was only for one night. Knowing the money we raised will mean YMCA Norfolk can continue to offer help to vulnerable young people in the county was really motivating.”
– Judy Bailey, participant of Sleep Easy 2021
Be part of the wider YMCA movement
You’ll be helping homeless young people like Emma…
“I came to YMCA Norfolk because things at home were getting very bad and my mental health was suffering. I was living with my dad and step-mother, and due to friction and arguments in the household, it was getting to the point where I was self-harming every day.
I found out about YMCA Norfolk because my brother is living there, and I thought it would be a safe and secure place to get the support and help I needed. I moved into Central (John Drake House) 13 months ago and received lots of support through regular 1-2-1 meetings with my support worker.”

We’ll shortly be releasing our registration form, where you can sign up for the event, alongside paying a small registration fee, which includes hot drinks, refreshments and a cooked breakfast. You’ll then be sent a participant pack which includes information on how to fundraise for the event and what to bring with you on the night! If you would like any further information in the meantime, please email our events and fundraising officer, Judy, on firstname.lastname@example.org
