Every year over 100,000 young people aged 16-24 ask their local council for aid with homelessness. Our Room Sponsorship is about much more than what these young people need to survive, it’s about what the opportunities they need to thrive.
By sponsoring a room you will help fund the extra services that we provide for young people. Room Sponsors support young people towards a brighter future by giving them the opportunity to develop the skills they need to move on with their lives.
Many young people become homeless through no fault of their own; the main ‘trigger’ for youth homelessness is family breakdown and for many young people this is a consequence of long-term conflict, violence or neglect. In the UK alone, one young person is left homeless every hour.
Young people without suitable housing are amongst the most vulnerable in our society. When a young person becomes homeless they are often extremely lonely, isolated and vulnerable. Without support their life can easily descend into one of poverty, exclusion and potential exploitation. Homeless people often have problems staying in education, training or employment but they also face difficulties, including low self-esteem, poor health and, in some cases they develop mental health problems.
By becoming a Room Sponsor you can help transform the lives of some of the 260 young people we provide a safe home and support for every night.
Our Room Sponsorship scheme gives you the chance to help a homeless person transform their life. For as little as 40p a day (£12 a month) you can help ensure that a homeless young person help they need to turn their life around.
