Celebrating 170 Year of YMCA Norfolk with 170 Stories

Help us celebrate 170 years of YMCA Norfolk’s impact by sharing 170 real-life stories from individuals whose lives have been impacted by our work. From housing and youth programs, to community support and personal growth, these stories showcase the heart of our mission: empowering people to belong, contribute, and thrive.

Did you once stay in YMCA Norfolk’s accommodation?
Perhaps a grandparent served tea from the YMCA Norfolk tea trollies during the war?
Maybe you attended one of the YMCA Norfolk summer camps?

If you or someone you know previously or currently use any of our services, worked or volunteered with us or interacted with YMCA Norfolk in a way which is meaningful to you over the last 170 years, we want to hear from you!

We’re collecting 170 stories to publish in a 170-year anniversary coffee table book that will be sold across Norfolk, celebrating the lives impacted by YMCA Norfolk.

For those who opt-in, we’ll also be producing some videos of people’s stories to share online and across social media, feature in podcasts and written stories for our website and newsletters.
