How much does it cost to become a Room Sponsor?
You can become a Room Sponsor for just £12 a month. That’s less than 40p a day – less than a packet of crisps!
Who can become a Room Sponsor?
We are looking for individuals and companies to sponsor rooms. If you want your assistance to be recognised we will be happy to give you or your company a mention and include a logo with a link on our website.
What will I receive as a Room Sponsor?
As a YMCA Norfolk Room Sponsor we think it’s only fair that you should see how your money enables change in young people’s lives.
When you become a Room Sponsor you will receive a welcome pack introducing you to some of the vulnerable young people you’re helping as well as some more information about YMCA Norfolk.
We are unable to provide you with individual updates on each young person in a sponsored room because the administrative costs would be too high, BUT we will provide you with regular updates in a newsletter, keeping you up to date with our latest developments and information about how sponsors have helped young people turn their lives around.
We will also update you with invites to some of our events throughout the year and an annual Open Day where you will be invited to visit one of our accommodation schemes for a tour and to learn more about the work of YMCA Norfolk and how your sponsorship makes a real difference.

How does my sponsorship help vulnerable young people?
Room Sponsorship is about much more than what young people need to survive in the world, it’s about what they need to succeed in it. Your support is about much more than a room, heating and lighting, it is about giving young people a vital education and training to help them into college or employment and the essential life skills to help build an independent future.
By sponsoring a room you will help fund the extra services that YMCA Norfolk provides for young people in its care. Room Sponsors support a young person towards a brighter future by giving them the opportunity to develop the skills they need to move on with their lives.
Can I get in touch with the young person in my room?
To protect the young people we work with, we can’t give out personal details, but we can pass on messages via our room sponsorship coordinator. You will however have the opportunity to meet some young people at our annual open day.
Can I choose where I sponsor a room and how long will a young person stay in my sponsored room?
We provide over 240 young people a home and support every night across the county through our hostels and housing services. Your room is one of them. To protect the privacy of the young person who’s there, we’re afraid we can’t tell you the exact location of your room.
Young people move in and out of YMCA Norfolk hostels daily. Some will stay for just a few days while they are in crisis, others will stay for up to two years. Because of the sheer range of work we do with young people, it makes much more sense to offer people like you the chance to sponsor a room. While you are sponsoring that room you may make a difference to just one young person’s life or several.
Can I sponsor more than one room/ give more than £12 a month?
We are very happy for you to sponsor more than one room/ give more than £12 a month, however to keep administrative costs to a minimum we will be unable to provide you with extra updates.
Are these young people real?
Yes. By sponsoring a room you’re helping real young people who housed and supported by YMCA Norfolk. To protect the young people we support, their names and pictures may have been changed in our promotional material. However their stories are true, there’s no exaggeration and no other details have been changed.
What happens if I cannot continue as a sponsor?
If your circumstances change and you are no longer in a position to be a Room Sponsor, please contact Communications and Fundraising Department, YMCA Norfolk, 35-37 Exchange Street, Norwich, NR2 1DP or email roomsponsor@ymca-norfolk.org.uk or ring 01603 621263. There are other ways you can help that don’t require the same level of commitment.
