YMCA Norfolk supported year 12 peer mentors at Hellesdon High School last Thursday, in running their own Health and Wellbeing Event for students and their parents.
Peer mentors organised a variety of talks, activities and stalls including a Human Library, Mindfulness Colouring, Smoothie Making, and a Yoga Taster Session.
Jess Tyson, Senior Youth Engagement Worker for YMCA Norfolk, said: ”The event went really well, the Year 12 peer mentors did a fantastic job of running the activities and talking to parents about exam stress and how to help their children.
“The peer mentors also talked to the younger years about positive mental health and how to manage the stress of exams and they definitely challenge any negative stereotypes of young people!”
The peer mentors and Health and Wellbeing event was supported by YMCA Norfolk in partnership with Alpha, The Samaritans, Norfolk SEN Network, UEA, MAP, Carers Trust, Chat Health, PMA and Pets as Therapy.
