Residents, staff and supporters sang carols and heard how the story of Christmas is still relevant today at YMCA Norfolk’s annual Carol Service at St Stephen’s Church in Norwich on December 15.
A congregation of around 70 people sang favourite Christmas carols and listened to Bible readings by residents and staff telling the Christmas story. They also heard the very personal story of Thomas Hannant and how he is now facing a brighter future thanks in part to YMCA Norfolk.
YMCA Norfolk chaplain Simon Chapman, from Soul Church, said we can learn lessons from the Christmas story: Christmas is a family time; we all need good shepherds to guide us; we can learn from the humility of the wise men and we still need to make room for Jesus in our lives today.
Before and after the service guests enjoyed hot drinks and mince pies.
